RE: Adding 1GB of RAM memory? UPDATE

I'm with Fizz - no expert but my manual said that the two slots have to match - i.e. 512 with 512 or 1024 with 1024 but not 512 with 1GB

RE: full time RV park in Ocala area?

We stayed at the Wild Frontier RV park in Ocala off and on for a few months last year. The park is quiet and clean. Sites are large and level. They were supposed to put in a pool this summer don't know if they did or not. The laundry is small but clean. Not a lot to offer in amenities but if the locatin works for you, just north on 441 less than 2 miles from downtown. It is a Passport America park which I believe is the only website entry you will find for them.
We stayed there primarily because it was located right behind Turning Wheel RV where we bought our second RV and it was close to the home we sold in Ocala Palms. It is also very near the city golf course, Pine Oaks.
We have a sprint aircard and cell phone and both worked very well in the park. Can't speak to Verizon but I would be surprised if it were a problem.

Horseback rides Zion and/or Bryce

Has anyone taken any of the horseback rides offered by Canyon Trail Rides vendor in Zion or Bryce? Trying to decide which of the rides offered would be the best for us.
At Zion, they offer either a 1 hour or a 1/2 day ride. At Bryce it is either 2 hours or 1/2 day.
I grew up riding horses but it has been 25 years since I have ridden regularly. My husband has been on a horse once - last year at Teddy Roosevelt NP North for a 1 1/2 hour trail ride. He really enjoyed that one but it left him a little saddle sore. He wants to go again but can't decide if the 1/2 day trips will be worth the aches. We are in our 50's and active otherwise.
Any feedback from those who have ridden these trails would be appreciated.

RE: banking ????? for fulltimers

Any bank with online bill pay available should work for you. As mentioned either check what type of fees your bank has for out of network ATM transactions or get cash back at Wal-Mart using a debit card. Only issue we have had has been the few times we need to deposit a paper check, we have to mail it back to our bank. See if your bank has special address/envelopes for mail in deposits. Many do.

RE: Salt Lake to Bryce

Dick B - Thanks for the suggestion, should have mentioned that we already have the Mountain Directory West - both routes have issues listed in the directory.
NevadaJim - thanks for the feedback on the two routes. We're looking for scenic and relaxed. We'll try to take a look at the fort you suggested.

Salt Lake to Bryce

40 Foot Class A towing a minivan -
Better to take I-15 to UT 20 to US 89
or
I-15 to I-70 to US 89? looks like only an additional 20 miles?
Or does someone have another route they would recommend?
Thank you.

RE: onan generator

how long has it been since it has been started? Did it start before you changed the oil? i.e. did this just begin to be a problem after the oil change?

RE: Generator Air vs. Dash Air

I think the figure of 1 gallon per hour to run the generator at full load is too high. Try checking the numbers at 1/2 gallon per hour which should be closer to actual usage.

USGA Golf Handicap

How do full-timers maintain a USGA Handicap if you don't belong to a golf club? I've looked on the web but haven't found much. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

RE: Pheeew...who let one loose

Is it possible that it sat in storage for a while and you didn't drain the water heater the last time you used it?

RE: Mounting LCD TV in an RV using a wall mount

Vuepoint full motion wall mount
We went with this wall mount because it had full swivel action plus tilt. Plus our tv was at the low end of the weight range for this mount. We could have purchased a less expensive mount but then the weight of our tv would have been at the top end of the weight range.
We didn't shop around as much for the wall mount so probably could be found for less somewhere on the net.
Good luck with your modification.

RE: Cost to Full-ime: What goes up, what goes down?

We have been fulltime since October 2007 so our information is fairly limited but one thing that I really noticed going down is the amount we spent on "household expenses". I track all our expenses in Quicken and have done so for many years. Whenever we go to Target, WalMart, Meijers, etc, I split the cost between groceries and household. Since being fulltime, we have significantly reduced the amount we spend on "stuff". Fewer clothes, fewer shoes, fewer household cleaners, fewer impulse buys because there isn't anywhere to put new stuff.
I initially budgeted monthly campground at $700 per month but have found that between visiting friends and family, staying in their driveways, and getting weekly and monthly rates we are averaging less than $10 per day this year. Granted we visited a lot of folks this year showing them our new home but even still that is a lot less than I first thought we would spend.
Don't forget to consider mail forwarding service.

RE: Mounting LCD TV in an RV using a wall mount

We just replaced our bedroom TV with an 26 inch Vizio. We used a full motion swival wall mount to hang it from the side of the original cabinet instead of the wall which is what I think you described above. I was already planning to post pictures but haven't yet. I'll try to have them posted sometime tomorrow.
It is very easy to remove the TV from the wall mount for travel, just have to remove one wing nut and lift it off the lip of the mount. With the new TV the cord and cables are very easy to access too. Especially with the full motion swival mount.
We gained the entire cabinet space as storage too.

If I've done the picture correctly, this is how I make sure that I know the slide lock is still in place when I am standing back in the middle of the coach at the controls.
If I haven't done the picture correctly, I guess you'll have to guess how I do that.
